Challenge 4: WayWiser Advanced Trail Running Series. Sponsored by: Tailwind
Thu, 23rd Feb - Wed, 1st Mar, Multi Day, Auckland, NZ
Description
This is the next instalment of the WayWiser Beginner Trail Running Challenges. Hell yes. As always, go out solo, or with some mates, and complete this anytime from Wednesday Feb 22nd to Wednesday March 1st.
Our challenge this week is sponsored by Tailwind (http://www.tailwindnutrition.co.nz/). They are graciously throwing down all this week's prizes.
River & Farm Track Intermediate Bush Run: 17.5kms
This challenge we're trying something a little different. The tracks themselves are not overly challenging (bar a small handful of spots), so we're going to add the speed factor. See how fast you can push yourself, and if you can break your PR for 10kms.
Head into the campground (through the gates) and turn right. At the far right, end of the grassy paddock, you'll see a bit of trail. Hop on that, after about 1km it will dump you out on Ara Drive. Make a left and run down Ara Drive toward the start of the River Trail.
- You will see a sign directing you to the right up a grassy access road.
Head up the hill and get onto the River Trail, which starts on your left after about 200m
Cross the river on the plank and pop out onto another road. Go left down the hill, then hard right at the intersection and start following the signs for the Moumoukai Farm Track.
Stay on the Farm Track by following the signs. Some junctions may have only a small black square marker with a white mtn. biker outline on it. Follow those to stay on track.
Near the end, you will cross a little stream and climb up a technical bit of hill. After this you're back on an access road and on the home stretch. Drop the hammer until you run past the exit of the river track. Get back on the River Track and retrace your steps back to the carpark.
Optional for Advanced Runners Seeking Distance
Continue running past the River Track entrance, and do another loop of the Moumoukai Farm Track. This will bring you to around 30kms all up.

Overall
Awesome! Hot day but some nice shaded parts. Great company.
Good fun!
A little hot but made the swim at the end worthwhile!
Great work peeps! Our Tailwind variety pack prize goes to Lydia for initiating and organising, but if you're lucky she might share with you :)
Must Do's
Great for a trail run or mtbiking. Good for well behaved doggies too.
Find a few mates to go with and take your togs!!
Be Aware of...
Nah all good 😊

Yes!! It certainly is. There are several little streams around for doggie swim spots as well. One of Scout's faves :)
