Description
To start, there will be a short patch where we will walk our bikes through Karangahape Road, Grafton. The cycle path runs from Upper Queen Street to Victoria Street and links the North Western cycle route, Grafton Gully and the Waterfront, creating a walking and cycling spine along the western side of the central business district.
This ride is mainly flat with very slight decline, a gentle ride on paths lined with native plants. The pink path boasts interactive lights, a dynamic magenta surface and Māori designs, including a 140 square metre koru pattern at the northern end.
We will stop for lunch and refreshments at the viaduct, where we are spoilt for choice with the many eateries. Bring a packed lunch if you prefer. After lunch we ride around the viaduct and stop to take pictures of the nautical surroundings before making our way back to Britomart station to catch our 2.24pm train back home.
