Description

Living The Kiwi Dream will be exploring Taranaki for a week. We will do the Pouakai Circuit on Saturday 18th to Sunday 19th.

We will be climbing Mt Taranaki at some stage during the week depending on the best weather window. Due to risk factors, we will not be running the summit as an event, but you may want to climb it yourself whilst you are in the area.

Pouakai Circuit: 25km over 2 days, staying overnight in Pouakai hut

To join this event you must have a good level of fitness, previous hiking experience, including carrying an overnight pack over long distances.

On the hike expect to see forest, alpine tussock fields and the unique Ahukawakawa Swamp. The walk is at the base of Mt Taranaki, offering amazing views of the mountain and the National Park. Keep an eye out for kiwis and falcons.
